Getting Started - Create Assessment

Everything you need to know to create an in-person paper assessment with Akindi.

Welcome to Akindi!

This guide will walk you through how to create a paper assessment with Akindi handling automatic question & answer scrambling. Students will complete the assessment in-person with a paper and writing utensil.

If you wish to manage your own question content in Akindi Classic, create an Online Assessment or use Akindi’s Question Importer, please see the relevant article.

Create Assessment

Import Questions

1. Click 'Create Assessment'.

Click 'Create Assessment' on course dashboard

2. Select course from dropdown menu.

Click 'Continue to Question Import'.

3. Select the Word Document (.docx) that contains the questions, and answers, with the answer key bolded or highlighted. Your existing document (without any special formatting) will work!

Click 'Upload'.

Select file and click 'Upload'

4. Enter Assessment Name.

5. Review the imported content to ensure the questions, answers, images, and tables were imported successfully. If needed, you can edit the assessment content as if it were a word document.

Assessment Instructions

1. Click '+ Instructions' under the assessment title.

2. Add text and/or images to the assessment instructions.
Assessment instructions can be added to the assessment cover page. Before you download your assessment, you will have the option to create a separate cover page for your assessment. Content assessment instructions will appear on the separate cover page.

💡 Tip: Use SHIFT + ENTER to create line breaks.

Setting or Editing Answer Key

  1. Click on the answer option to create or edit your answer key.

    Correct answer(s) are highlighted in green. To deselect, click on the answer option.

  2. For advance marking options, click on the slider icon next to the question

Scrambling Questions and Answers

  1. Choose to 'Scramble questions' and/or 'Scramble answers' by clicking the toggles on the left-hand tab

2. Select the desired number of 'versions' from the dropdown menu. Akindi will automatically generates the desired number of versions.

3. Click "Next" to move onto creating bubble sheets.


Customize Bubble Sheets

  1. Select your bubble sheet template based on the number of questions and responses on your assessment from the drop down menu. Akindi will ignore any unused bubbles.

  2. If desired, choose to prefill the bubble sheets with the student names and IDs. This will give you a unique test sheet for each student in your roster.

3. Click "Next" to move to the download step


Download Assessment and Bubble Sheets

  1. Use the drag bars to customize the document margins, font size, and line spacing

  2. Enable the 'Separate Cover Page' toggle to create a separate cover page for each assessment version

3. Click "Download" to download a zip file that contains all the documents as individual PDFs
