What are Question Groups?
Question groups are multiple questions that relate to the same information, image, or table. Questions within a question group, will remain together when scrambled.
Use cases for Question Groups
Question groups are most commonly used:
1) Case study-style questions.
Multiple questions related to a common image, table, or text. For example, "Use the diagram below to answer the following 3 questions."
2) Topic/ Chapter Grouping.
Group questions by concept, chapter, or lecture to ensure related questions remain together during scrambling. For example, All Chapter 2 questions are grouped together.
3) Question Type.
Group all of the same questions type together to ensure they stay together during scrambling. For example, all True/False questions are in a question group.
Structure of a Question Group
Question groups are comprised of:
Group Title (optional): A title to identify the question group
Preamble (optional): a block of text, images, or a table, that contains the information the student will use to answer the question, and
One or more question
Creating Question Groups
Importing Question Groups from a Word Document
Akindi will automatically identify question groups in your word document.
Akindi looks for wording similar to "Use the [image/table/ information] below to answer the following X questions."
π‘ Avoid mentioning specific question numbers in the question group preamble, if you plan to scramble the questions, as the location of the question will change from one version to the next.
For example:
β "Use the image to answer Questions 2-5."
β "Use the image to answer the following 3 questions."
