πŸ’‘ This article is designed to:

  • Organize questions into groups by chapter or topic

  • Scramble questions freely within each chapter

  • Keep chapters in a fixed order across all versions (Chapter 1 always first, Chapter 2 always second, and so on)

Visit our full Question Group article for a deep dive into Question Groups.

Step 1: Prepare Word Document

Before each chapter's questions, add the trigger phrase"The following X questions relate to ...". Akindi will use that phrase to automatically detect the group.

For example: "The following 8 questions are related to Chapter 1: Cell Biology."

Step 2: Import Word Document

Create Assessment and Import test questions.

Step 3: Verify Group Importing

Review the imported content and verify that every question group was identified.

Question groups will be outlined in a dotted line, with the preamble at the top, followed by the grouped questions. A 'Group' options button will be available next to the question group.

3. Add the desired question group title.

The group title will be automatically formatted on exported test question PDFs and Online Assessment.

Step 5: Pin Group Position

By default, when scrambling is enabled, the entire question group moves to different positions in the assessment (meaning Chapter 3 could end up before Chapter 1). To keep chapters in order while still scrambling questions within them, pin each group's position.

Pin Group Position locks the question group to a specific location in the assessment, ensuring the group will always appear at the same position across all versions.

To keep a question group from scrambling across the assessment:

1. Enable 'Scramble Questions' toggle on left-hand panel.

3. Enable 'Pin at Question X' toggle.

An pin icon will appear next to the question group preamble to indicate that the questions within the group will remain in the same position across all versions.
