Analyzing the Point Biserial

How to access and read the point biserial graph in Akindi.

To access the Question Breakdown in Akindi:

1. Click 'View Results' from your course dashboard.

2. Go to the 'Graphs' tab.

3. Select the 'Point Biserial' on the left-hand menu.

4. Click on a question bar-graph to display the 'Question Breakdown'.

5. If you have multiple versions or multiple sections, use the dropdown menus in the upper-left corner to filter the results.

To read the Question Breakdown in Akindi:

The point biserial is a statistical analysis that displays the correlation between how well a student performed on the test and whether they answered this question correctly.

Theoretically, a well designed questions will lead to high performing students answering the question correctly, while low performing students will answer the question incorrectly.

  • Questions with point biserial >0.20 are highlighted in green

  • Questions with point biserial between 0 and 0.20 are highlighted in yellow

  • Questions with point biserial <0 highlighted in red

For multi-select questions, Akindi will display the number of students that selected each answer option in the Question Breakdown.
