October 26, 2026 - QTI import | Release Notes

Import quizzes and test banks from an LMS into Author with QTI files, and see pins, groups, and subheaders in the Scramble Map.

1. Import questions from QTI files

What's new?

Instructors can now upload a QTI (.zip) file into 'Start with questions' workflow in Akindi. Questions, answer options, answer keys, and question groups are automatically detected and imported into Akindi.

Why we built this?

Most LMSs and publisher test banks export only PDF or QTI. Instructors were converting PDFs to Word before importing, which often broke formatting, caused questions to be misread, and took valuable time.

Now instructors can go from their LMS quiz or test bank to an editable Akindi assessment in one step, with no reformatting.

2. Detailed scramble map.

What's new?

The Scramble Map now shows the structure behind scrambled versions:

  • Pinned questions and answer options: A pin icon appears next to the question and/or answer option.

  • Question groups: Each group is outlined with a light border.

  • Subheaders: Each subheader appears as its own labeled row.

The same details appear in the Answer Key PDF.

Why we built this?

The scramble map showed the new order of questions but not the structure behind it, so it was hard to tell why a question moved or stayed put.

Instructors can now see at a glance what is locked, what moves together, and where each section starts. That makes it easier to match a student's version back to the original, for example when students review their exams during office hours.
