1. Subheading in Questions
What's new?
Instructors can now divide an assessment into labeled sections allowing instructors to group question by question type (eg. Multiple choice, true-false, short answer) or chapter/ topic (eg. Chapter 1, Chapter 2, etc..)
A Subheader adds a heading and instructions block with the same rich-text formatting as assessment instructions, including bullets, alignment, and text size.
Everything between one Subheader and the next belongs to that section. Subheaders stay in place and scrambled questions stay within a section. Question numbering continues across the whole assessment.
Subheadings and their instructions appear on the printed PDF.
Why we built this?
Instructors often run assessments made up of distinct parts with distinct instructions, and wanted a way to label and structure those parts without losing the flow of numbering or scrambling across the whole exam.
Sub-headers give instructors that structure directly in Akindi, so an assessment can look and read the way it's actually organized.
2. Redesigned bulk actions toolbar
What's new?
Selecting multiple questions in the Questions tab now surfaces a toolbar pinned at the top of the screen, instead of a bar at the bottom of the screen.
The toolbar has three clear actions: change points, group questions, and delete questions.
Why we built this?
Instructors wanted an easier way to make changes, like point values, across a group of questions at once, rather than opening each question individually.
Splitting bulk actions into distinct, visible icons makes it clear what each one does and keeps the toolbar easy to find while editing.
3. Delete and Group from the drag handle
What's new?
Clicking the drag handle next to a question, answer, or question group opens a menu with Delete and Group/Ungroup.
Hovering over Delete highlights exactly what will be removed.
Once the action is performed a confirmation toast with an 'Undo' button in the bottom right appears, to bring back anything deleted or grouped by mistake.
Why we built this?
Removing a question, an answer choice, or a whole group should take one step and no guesswork.
This also resolves an edge case where empty groups were hard to delete.
2. Reworked packet download selection UI
What's new?
The Downloads tab now presents clearer, more visual options for choosing how to package an assessment. New icons show how each PDF is put together.
Multiple-choice-only assessments show two options: a complete test packet, or separate question and bubble sheet PDFs.
Assessments with written answer questions show three: all versions combined in one PDF, versions in separate PDFs, or blank test packets.
Each option is described in plain language, with an updated "your download will consist of" summary and icons so instructors know exactly what they'll get before downloading.
Why we built this?
Instructors told us the download options felt overly complicated, and weren't always sure which one matched what they needed to print.
Multiple-choice-only assessments used to be treated the same as ones with written answer questions, which made the options confusing. Instructors also wanted to print question sheets and bubble sheets separately, and couldn't find that option.
Clearer choices and descriptions mean less guessing about which download will produce the right packet.
