What's new?
Instructors can now grade written answer questions digitally in Akindi, right alongside their scanned multiple-choice results.
The grading experience includes:
Digital grading: grade scanned written responses on screen, with no paper to shuffle, or stacks to juggle.
Grade by student or by question: work through one student's full assessment at a time, or grade the same question across every student.
Blind grading: hide student names while grading to keep marking fair and unbiased.
Custom feedback: add comments to a response so students understand their score.
Preset grades: save reusable grades and feedback, then apply them in one click for faster, more consistent marking.
Why we built this?
A large portion of instructors utilize both multiple choice and written answer questions on their assessments. Instructors wanted the whole assessment to live in Akindi, not just the multiple-choice portion.
Many were printing and stapling written sections separately, then grading them by hand. Many instructors spoke about the difficulty of juggling different stacks of test packets and the challenges of grade consistency between graders and grading overtime.
Digital grading brings written answers into the same workflow, and features like blind grading and preset grades keep marking fair, consistent, and fast.
2. Complete test packets
What's new?
Instructors can now download a complete test packet as a single PDF.
Each packet brings the whole assessment together in one document: 1) multiple choice questions pages, 2) scannable written answer question pages, 3) bubble sheet.
This enables:
Prefilled version bubbles: each student's bubble sheet is pre-marked with the correct version, eliminating the possibility of students copying from their neighbours.
Scannable written answer pages: written answer sections are included as scannable pages, ready to grade digitally after the exam.
Why we built this?
Instructors were assembling assessments by manually: printing the exam, the bubble sheet, and any written sections separately, then combining them.
Prefilling the version removes any version errors caused by students missing or misfilling their version bubble and eliminating the possibility of students copying off their neighbors.
A complete packet means one download, one print, and one document to hand to each student.
