1. Complete assessment instruction customization
What's new?
Instructors now have full control over how assessment instructions.
Three new formatting options are available:
Bulleted lists: type
*,-, or+followed by a space at the start of a line to start a bullet. Press 'Enter' for the next bullet, and press it again on an empty bullet to return to regular text.Text alignment: highlight the desired text and choose to align text left, center, or right. Alignment carries through to the exported PDF.
Text size: make a heading or key detail larger to control how instructions read on the page by highlighting the desired text and changing the text size.
Why we built this?
Instructors wanted more control over the complete test document, not just the questions.
Many format their assessments instructions a specific way outside of Akindi and hit a wall when instructions and preambles couldn't match that layout.
These controls let instructors build instructions the way they want them, right inside Akindi.
2. Customizable headers
What's new?
Instructors can now add type their own header text to the top of an assessment.
The header appears at the top of every test question page and bubble sheet of the exported PDF.
Why we built this?
Previously, Akindi added a standard, un-editable header to all test question pages. This prevented instructors from customizing their assessments to the exact specifications and formatting that fit their needs.
A customizable header lets the printed assessment look the way instructors expect it to and carries consistency between the test questions and bubble sheet.
3. Preset styles for print-ready layouts
What's new?
Akindi now offers three preset styles: Standard, Compact, and Comfortable.
Each style applies a complete set of typography and spacing defaults and updates the preview instantly:
Standard: standard spacing and margins, ideal for most assessments.
Compact: reduced spacing and narrow margins, fits more questions onto each page.
Comfortable: additional spacing and larger margins, adds more breathing room.
For finer control, a Customize panel still lets instructors adjust font size, margins, bold questions, indented answers, and horizontal answers.
Why we built this?
Instructors often format their assessments outside of Akindi to fit specific layouts, and reduce the number of pages. Previously, this meant juggling several separate sliders, none of which allowed the instructors to generate a PDF that looked exactly how they wanted.
Presets match the common formatting styles instructors use outside of Akindi while maintaining accessibility standards.
The Compact style in particular helps optimize page usage- fitting as many questions as possible on each page while keeping a beautiful, accessible, print-ready layout.
