What are hand graded marks?

Hand graded marks refer to scores that are manually entered by the instructor for questions that cannot be graded automatically by Akindi (eg. short answer, essay, or diagram-based questions).

These marks are added to the student’s multiple choice score to calculate their total grade.

Create Hand Graded Columns

1. From the 'Responses' tab, click 'Enter Hand Graded Marks'.

Click 'enter hand graded marks' button on responses tab

2. Enter the total number marks for the first hand graded column.

If you uploaded your Written Answer Questions (WAQs) to Akindi, Akindi will automatically pre-populate the total number of marks.

πŸ’‘ If you uploaded your WAQs to Akindi when creating your assessment, you have two options for entering marks:

  • Single column – enter the combined total for all questions

  • Individual columns – enter the mark for each question separately

Akindi will automatically pre-populate the total number of hand-graded marks based on your uploaded WAQs.

3. To add additional columns, click '+ Hand graded column'.

4. To mark a column as a bonus question, enable the 'Bonus' toggle for that column.

Bonus points are added to the student's total marks earned (numerator), but are not counted in the total marks possible (denominator).
