1. Register LTI 1.3 Tool
1. Go to 'Administrator Panel' > Navigate to 'LTI Tool Providers' > and select 'Register LTI 1.3/ Advantage Tool'
2. Enter Client ID: 3575baa6-834d-4c93-b06e-daae20842312
3. Click 'Submit'
4. Copy 'Deployment ID' and save in secure location. You'll need to provide this to Akindi.
3. Ensure the following Institution Policies:
CHECK: Role in Course
CHECK: Name
CHECK: Email Address
Allow grade service access: YES
Allow Membership Service Access: YES
5. Click 'Submit'
2. Add LTI Placements
1. Click Dropdown arrow next to newly created LTI 1.3 tool > Select 'Manage Placements'
2. Click 'Create new Placement'.
Enter the following fields:
Label: Akindi
Handle: akindi-lti13-prod
Availability: Yes
Type: Course Tool
CHECK: Allow Student Access
Launch in New Window: CHECK
Icon: [Download the icon below and upload to Blackboard]
Target Link URI: https://lti.akindi.com/lti13/tool_link
2. Click 'Submit'
3. Create Akindi System Role
1. Go to 'Administrator Panel' > Navigate to 'System Roles' > Click 'Create Role'
2. Complete the following:
Role Name: Akindi
Role ID: AK-Prod
Description: Permissions needed by Akindi to launch from course shell, pull student roster information, and send grades to grade book.
Click 'Submit'
3. Click dropdown arrow next to newly created role and select 'Privileges'
Ensure role has the following permissions:
Course/Organization Control Panel (Users and Groups) > Users
Administrator Panel (Users) > Users > Edit > View Course Enrollments
Course/Organization Control Panel (Grade Center) > Full Control
4. Assign 'Akindi' system role to a new user
4. Set up REST API
1. Go to 'Administrator Panel' > Navigate to 'REST API Integrations' > Click 'Create Integration'
2. Enter the following fields.
Application ID: 3575baa6-834d-4c93-b06e-daae20842312
Learn user: [user created in Step 3]
End user access: YES
Authorized To Act As User: NO (Service Default)
5. Send Information to Akindi
Send the following to your Akindi account manager:
'Deployment ID' from step 1.4
Blackboard instance URL (eg.
https://school.blackboard.com) and any vanity URLs (eg.https://learn.school.com)
Next Steps
Once your Akindi account manager receives the deployment ID, they will complete the integration setup.
You can then test the integration to ensure it if functioning as expected.
The integration can be deployed to all instructors.
π‘ Switching to LTI 1.3 from LTI 1.1?
After the LTI 1.3 integration is setup and fully functioning, the LTI 1.1 integration can be disabled and deleted and the LTI 1.3 integration can be deployed to all instructors.
We recommend completing this transition between semesters to prevent any instructor disruptions.
